Dactylorhiza majalis subsp. praetermissa, commonly known as the southern marsh orchid, is a clump-forming perennial with lance-shaped green leaves and upright stems. In late spring to early summer, it produces spikes of delicate, funnel-shaped flowers in pale pink to purple, often with darker spotting, creating an elegant and naturalistic display in damp meadows and pond margins.
This orchid is valuable for pollinators, attracting bees and other insects, and contributes to wetland biodiversity. Its compact, clump-forming habit and subtle flowers make it ideal for naturalistic planting, wet meadows, and wildlife-focused garden schemes.
