Where the original Acqua di Giò (1996) is a bright marine fougère, Profondo takes the same Mediterranean DNA and pushes it into deeper, mineral-cool territory. Sea notes, Aquozone, bergamot and green mandarin open the fragrance; an aromatic heart of rosemary, lavender, cypress and lentisque carries the middle; and a base of mineral notes, musk, patchouli and amber gives the scent a long, slightly salty trail.

The story behind Acqua di Giò Profondo
Profondo was conceived as the depths-of-the-ocean counterpart to the surface-level original Acqua di Giò — Alberto Morillas's brief was to take the Mediterranean coastal aesthetic and follow it underwater. The mineral-cool, slightly oily quality of the heart and base evokes wet stones, sea-sprayed cliffs and deep blue water; the cypress-and-lentisque pairing keeps the composition firmly Italian. The bottle takes the recognisable Acqua di Giò silhouette in a much deeper, midnight-blue tinted glass.
