Houttuynia cordata, commonly known as chameleon plant 'Plena', is a low-growing, spreading perennial with heart-shaped green leaves forming dense mats, often with subtle variegation along the edges. In summer, it produces small, inconspicuous greenish-yellow flowers that rise slightly above the foliage, adding texture rather than showy blooms.
This cultivar is valued for damp ground cover and stabilising pond edges while providing subtle visual interest. Its creeping, vigorous habit and tolerance of consistently moist soils make it ideal for pond margins, bog gardens, and naturalistic water features.
