Iris pseudacorus 'Variegata', commonly known as variegated yellow flag iris, is a striking rhizomatous perennial valued for its boldly striped green and creamy-yellow foliage, which provides ornamental interest throughout the growing season. In early to mid summer it produces the same large, bright yellow flowers as the species, standing above the foliage and creating a strong contrast against the variegated leaves.
This cultivar is useful for adding both foliage and floral interest to pond margins and wet ground, while still providing habitat for wildlife. Its vigorous growth and tolerance of waterlogged soils and shallow water make it well suited to naturalistic pond edges, wetlands, and larger water features.
