Juncus effusus 'Spiralis', commonly known as corkscrew rush, is a clump-forming perennial with striking, twisted green stems that grow upright in dense tussocks, creating a sculptural effect. In summer it produces inconspicuous brownish-green flowers in small clusters along the stems, adding subtle texture rather than showy blooms.
This cultivar is valued for its architectural foliage and suitability for wetland planting, providing shelter for small wildlife and stabilising pond edges. Its upright, spreading habit and tolerance of waterlogged or consistently moist conditions make it ideal for pond margins, water features, and naturalistic bog gardens.
