Physostegia virginiana, commonly known as obedient plant, is an upright, clump-forming perennial with lance-shaped green leaves forming dense, architectural foliage. In late summer it produces spikes of tubular, violet-pink flowers, creating a striking display along pond margins, wet meadows, and damp soils.
